KUALA LUMPUR, 7 June 2023 — Deloitte has launched its Southeast Asia Regional Capability Centre (RCC) here, which aims to provide 1,000 job opportunities for audit and assurance, consulting, financial advisory, risk advisory, and tax and legal professionals in Malaysia to serve the region.

Speaking at the launch ceremony, Deloitte Malaysia chief executive officer Yee Wing Peng said "The RCC is our talent hub providing a wide spectrum of professional services from its centralised location here in Kuala Lumpur, serving external and internal clients across Southeast Asia, APAC and globally (to a certain extent).

"With more than 600 professionals currently employed, the centre has plans to scale up to more than 1,000 professionals within the year, and more in subsequent years," he noted.

Commenting further, Yee said the establishment of the RCC also reinforces Deloitte's commitment to create high-value employment opportunities for local knowledge workers.
He hoped that this will ultimately lead to a highly-skilled workforce, capable of exporting world class professional services internationally.

Meanwhile, Deloitte Southeast Asia chief executive officer Eugene Ho said the opening of the RCC in Kuala Lumpur is a strategic move and part of the firm's investment plans to further growth in the region.

"This is primarily an investment in people. Our people are our most important asset, and they are key to our success.

"To help us build our capabilities for us to help our clients solve their most complex issues, we need to attract and retain the best talent in Malaysia and around the region, and give them an unrivaled career experience as the employer of choice in the region and globally," he said.

In line with the opening of RCC, Deloitte also shared its comprehensive talent development programme which aims to cultivate talent at every stage, starting from the foundational school years through tertiary education and continuing the journey as Deloitte professionals.

Part of Deloitte's global World Class initiative, KidsEdu is the Malaysian flagship corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme to improve academic performance of primary school children in the B40 community, aged between seven and 12.

Established in June 2019, weekly physical classes for English, Mathematics and Science were held in selected People's Housing Programme (PPRs) within the Klang Valley.

From June 2020, the firm has also distributed a total of 572 laptops, with a commitment of providing 200 refurbished laptops to the community annually.

In conjunction with the launch and the 55th anniversary of Deloitte in Malaysia, the firm made a pledge to provide 550 refurbished laptops from January 1, 2023 to January 1, 2025.
